Private Sector and Development

Private Sector and Development is a bimonthly and free magazine recently launched by Proparco, an AFD subsidiary. It provides a platform for debate between experts with different and complementary views (development financial institutions, researchers, private companies) on the private sector’s role in the development of southern countries. The three first issues focused on topics such as access to drinking water, SME financing and microfinance with contributions from well-known authors such as Paul Collier, Esther Duflo, or Jacques Attali. The fourth and last issue, which has just been published, concentrates on the economic and social impacts of mobile telephone expansion in poor countries.

LuxFLAG

The Luxembourg Fund Labelling Agency (LuxFLAG) is an independent, non profit making, association created in Luxembourg in July 2006 by seven founding partners who are the Charter Members. The Agency aims to promote the raising of capital for microfinance by awarding a recognisable label to eligible Microfinance Investment Vehicles (MIV). Its objective is to reassure investors that the MIV actually invests, directly or indirectly, in the microfinance sector. The MIV may be domiciled in any jurisdiction that is subject to a level of national supervision equivalent to that available in European Union countries. PlaNet Finance is partner with LuxFLAG.
