PlaNet Finance is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that aims to alleviate poverty worldwide through the development of microfinance.
PlaNet Finance is an international organisation whose mission is to fight against poverty through the development of microfinance. As the microfinance expert, PlaNet Finance offers a set of services via eight independent and specialised units whose primary objective is to develop an inclusive financial sector:
- PlaNet Finance Advisory Services, provides technical assistance and advisory services to microfinance players and stakeholders involved in microfinance
- Planet Rating is a microfinance rating agency
- PlaNIS is specialising in advisory services, structuring and managing microfinance funds
- MicroCred is an investment company in microfinance
- PlaNet Guarantee is the organisation's expert unit in microinsurance
- FinanCités, a venture capital company with a social mission, invests directly in microentreprenarial projects in deprived urban areas
- PlaNet University, is PlaNet Finance's microfinance training centre
Based in Paris, PlaNet Finance is active in more than 80 countries and gathers more than 1,000 staff.
Each year, PlaNet Finance Advisory Services manages approximately 100 programs with about 200 microfinance institutions (MFIs), reaching more than 4 million clients. Planet Rating conducted 478 rating missions, and MicroCred now runs 6 microfinance institutions. PlaNet Guarantee has been able to provide microinsurance products to 130,000 microentrepreneurs. PlaNIS set up the financing for 75 MFIs mainly on behalf of responsAbility funds /Credit Suisse and MicroFund for a total of USD 156 million. Since 2007, FinanCités financed 36 microentreprises in France for a total of EUR 2 million.
